The Grace and Power of Methodist Theology with Dr. Ken Collins [Firebrand Conversations]

Dr. Kenneth J. Collins is the Professor of Historical Theology and Wesley Studies at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY, and a member of Firebrand’s editorial board. He has just published a new book on Wesleyan theology entitled: Generous Divine Love: The Grace and Power of Methodist Theology. In this video interview I asked Dr. Collins about his latest book and its contribution to Wesleyan theology. Collins explains the necessary retrieval of the doctrine of free grace and the beauty of a theology built on the receiving of gifts, rather than earning. In discussing salvation, entire sanctification and more, he argues for why Methodist theology is both beautiful and important for this time in the church. We also discuss commonalities and differences between Wesleyanism and Calvinism. For anyone who has an interest in Wesleyan theology, this a rich conversation with important implications for Christian living and church ministry.
